Tanner Gallella Thinnen's profoundly prolific 2020 concludes with Touch Sense. Whereas his prior releases in the Others series were compilations by design, this particular effort is very cohesive -- and all the more absorbing because of it. Earthy, organic drums lie beneath lightly distorted synth pads to manifest something tangible, yet also somehow otherworldly. It should be impossible to strike such a balance -- but then again, Thinnen is impossibly talented. Favorite track: The Lights.
